My Favorite Films of 2015

  1. CREED: Now let me go on recorded and say that the only Rock film I’v seen (partly) was Rocky Balboa. That being said I was excited to see CREED. The cast and director/writer were good, and this was the first “Rocky” film that Stallone did not write. Which is huge because he created this universe, so he know’s them better then anyone else. So when award winning writer/director Ryan Coogler decided to create this story, he’s biggest hurdle was Stallone. However when Stallone heard him out and saw what he wanted to do with these characters he gave the OK! From that we got this obvious Academy Award Nominated film called CREED. The story of the bastard son of Apollo Creed, who has the fighting spirit in him as well. So he is raised by Apollo’s widow, who does not want him to follow in his fathers footsteps. Well that does little to stop Adonis from quitting his job and going to find his fathers formal rival Rocky to help him train. As the film goes along we see this unlikely father-son relationship between Rocky and Adonis. Rocky as the ageing fighter who’s wife and brother-in-law have died, and his son who has moved away to Canada. Now as we saw in Balboa, Rocky and his son  do not have the best relationship. Adonis never knew his father, so meeting Rocky is like meeting a figure like his father. Rocky then gets to train Adonis, much like how he wanted to train his own son. What I’m about to say may seem crazy but, Stallone is a good actor. Watch Copland and you will see how he’s more then Rambo 4. If he does not get nominated for an Academy Award PROTEST IN THE STREET! He is terrific in the film! So not to give the whole film away, this does have some simulates to the original Rocky film, but it also has some new elements that helps creates a new universe in this franchise.
  2. Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens: I waited 2 years for this movie to come out, I would read rumors, talk with friends about what the story could be, and I got a ticket to a movie just to see the Star Wars teaser on the big screen. Now I’m not one of those super fans of the franchise, I do own all the films and the Holiday Special on DVD, but when it comes to the books not being “canon” anymore does not bother me. I had a conversation with a 5O1st member about this and he agreed, why would you want movies fully based on the novels? Non of it would be a surprise, it would take some of the fun out of Star Wars. If I had to rank this film with all the other ones it would be #3. Empire Strikes Back as #1, and A New Hope #2. To read more about what I thought about the film click HERE to read my spoiler review.
  3. ANT-MAN: Again if you want to read my full review on this film go HERE to read my Spoiler Rant. To summarize my thoughts on the film I would but this high on my list of one of the best MARVEL movies to date. The film was so funny, and you can still see how some of the elements of a Edgar Wright style in the finish film, but Paul Rudd was perfect casting! Such a breath of fresh air from all the dark, dramatic stories that we have been getting from the MCU. I put this film above my number 4 pick because I knew nothing about this character or the story and I was blown away by the cast and script. I don’t know how the sequel may turn out, the MCU has a bad streak when it comes the the sequels, minus The Winter Soldier. If you have not seen Ant-Man go rent it, and if you have a 3D disc player watch it in 3D!
  4. Jurassic World: Jurassic Park was the first movie I saw in theaters as a child. It’s still one of my top favorite films, its sequels how ever are another story. Now I did own the 3D board game of The Lost World, and had some of the toys. I saw the 3rd film in theaters and walking out I knew that I had just seen one of the worst movies ever made. So when it was released that a new sequel to the franchise was getting made, I was interested to see what they were going to do. I liked the director and the writer, they did one of my favorite indie films “Safety Not Guaranteed”. The film was good and a lot of fun, but it was CGI heavy, where the original had a least a real door to the opening of the park. Also not all the Dinosaurs in the original film was not completely CGI, this film was fun but lacked the aww-ness the original film had. That being said, THE ENDING SCENE WAS AWESOME!!! I own this film on bluray-3D and I’ll be watching it again!
  5. Entourage: OHH YEAHHHH, OHH YEAHHH! This is not one of the best films of the year, but after being a fan of the series and getting short-sheeted by the series finally this film was a the ending I wanted! It had all the classic elements of the Entourage series, BABY BRO!, HUGS, HOUSE PARTIES, LLOYD!, SEX-DRUGS-AND CAMEOS! I loved every part of this film, if you’re looking for a plot…Vinny and the Boys are making a movie, but Vinny may have problems with the movie, so Arie comes in to help Vinny with the movie, meanwhile E and his GF are having peoblems, Turtle has women issues, and Drama is trying to get a job. That pretty much sums it up…and I LOVE IT! OHHH YEAHHH, OHHH YEAHHH!
  6. Specter: Bond is back and its remaking all the characters from the Connery era! We have Q, the old man M, Moneypenny, the 63′ Aston Martin, and now Blofeld is back! They cast Christopher Waltz as Blofeld and its the perfect casting, now they so make him Bond’s sudo-brother. The plot is a bit confusing and I felt they really underused Blowfeld and Bautista’s Mr. Hinx, I hope they at least bring back Bautista, his fate is left unknown in the film. Also his character comes out of nowhere and is never mentioned by name. Its hard to beat Skyfall, and Sam Mendes did return in the director chair, but where the action excelled in the story aspect was lacking.
  7. Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation: The only other Mission Impossible I’ve seen before this was the first film, and I did’t like it. So compared to that film, this film was way more fun and enjoyable.
  8. Furious 7: Again walking into this film I had not seen any of the films in the franchise. Since seeing the film I watch the first two films and to compare this to those is not fair cause its nothing close to what they did back in the yearly 2000’s. The first film in the franchise was OK, the sequel was a better story in my opinion. The NOS was a huge factor in both films and it was more about the cars. Now its more about the action, much like Mission Impossible. The reason I have this one listed here is because Mission Impossible got me more interested in a franchise I knew nothing about.
  9. Pitch Perfect 2: Saw this film with my fiancee and yes its silly and dumb, but it made me laugh and dare I say it pulled at my heart-strings with the Boomer and Fat Amy scenes. Also I thought the villains were fun in this film, the original film didn’t really have a “bad guys” so to see them face a group that really is nasty was nice. Best supporting actor in the film was the cameos of Keegan-Michael Key, his comedy is golden and always makes me laugh. Elizabeth Banks is a great diverse actress and does a good job taking over the director chair. I’m interested to see what they do with the third film.
  10. Avengers: Age of Ultron: So you maybe wondering why I have this list so low on my list, its because I was really not blown away by this sequel. Coming off Winter Soldier this was a really plain sequel that only serve to spin off the other films in this series. Also its the same plot as the first film, which films seem to be doing a lot lately. The best part in the film is the Hulk vs. The Hulk Buster, its full of action and funny lines. Ultron is an eh villain, Loki did it better in my opinion. Also I felt they sort of forced the whole Infinity Stones stuff in the film, Thor comes in and explains it all in one sentence and that’s it. We also got to see where Black Panther lives, to set up that film franchise. You can tell Joss Whedon creativity was limited in this film, he really made his own film with the first Avengers. That could be because the films that came before it really were there own standalone stories leading to the Avengers film. With the sequel it sort of just set up the story plots of the next few films.
  11. The Ridicules 6: Oh boy, now Adam Sandler is not comedy god and his films are not comedy gold. That being said, this film was far better then Pixels. Was it a good film, oh no, but it had moments that made me laugh. To read more about my thoughts on the film click HERE.

Now I want to say that I didn’t see every film of 2015, and I still have Ex-Machina on bluray to watch, so once I watch it I’ll add it to ether my fav or hated list.

Star Wars Ep.7 SPOILER REVIEW

lR11hyU

Last night I saw The Force Awakens at a private screening. I was on the edge of my seat when the craw began. Luke as vanished!

Now I really liked the film, I thought that this film was a huge improvement to the prequels. I thought the old and new cast did great. Adam Driver was terrifying as Kylo Ren, who spoiler is Ben Solo. He was the best of both the dark side of Vader, and the childish personality of Anakin. He was hands-down the best person in the film.

GIF_star_wars_force_awakens_korean_trailer_2

The story is almost a shot by shot remake of a New Hope in some ways. Where a droid is carrying important information to the resistance, that was left by a hero who was captured, by a dark force warrior, only to be rescued by a person dressed as a stormtrooper. Then The robot meets a person on a dessert planet that’s a good fixer-uper. Then they meet up with Han Solo and Chewe. Also the bad guys have created a giant death machine to blow up planets, only to have its shields lowered and have a small area exposed to attack, then the character who is the mentor to the fixer-uper dies at the hands of the dark warrior. The fixer then uses the power of the force to stop the bad guy.

Sounds pretty similar, but it works for this story.

Much how the first films had their own style, because of the different directors, The Force Awakens is very much a JJ Abrams film. Except no lens flairs everywhere, thank the maker. Oh and 3PO says that in the movie…like in Ep 4.

As we learn pretty early on into the film, Kylo Ren is Han and Leia’s son Ben. Ben was Luke’s padawan in the new Jedi Order. However Ben, being much like Vader, was easily manipulated by the dark side of the force. So he killed all the Jedi’s, and Luke being ashamed of what his nephew and padawan had done goes into  hiding. After all that Han and Leia go their separate ways.

giphy

Then years later the new rebellion is fighting the new empire called “The First Order”. They dropped the whole clone army thing and now they steal babies from families. Thus giving them a serial name and a job as ether a soldier or as a worker.

The main character in this film is Rey, who is most likely Luke’s daughter. As we see in a force flash that after Kylo Rne killed all the Jedi’s Rey was left on Jakku to live with Max Von Sydow, who we say in the beginning of the film get killed by Kylo Ren. By theory is that Ren killed Luke’s wife, and to hide Rey from the darkside, much how Obi-Wan did for him, he left her in the hands of an old friend to raise her and keep her safe.

The reason I believe this is because Rey as a natural talent for piloting and fixing stuff, much like a young Luke. I think Han can tell that there is something familiar about Rey when she’s on the Falcon fixing stuff. Also the way Leia looks at her, its if she knows the truth (because of the force).

star-wars-force-awakens-4

Now lets get to the part I know everyone is talking about. The over use of Fan Service obviously!

We have Fin telling Poe, “This is a rescue mission!”

While on the Falcon we see the training ball Luke used to guide the force, and the video game Chewe and 3PO were playing.

Now Han does say, “I have a bad feeling about this.” But thats OK, its said in every star wars film.

When Han and Fin capture Cap. Phasma Han asks if there’s a trash compactor they can throw her in…you know like in the first film.

Ok, Ok…to the real thing everyone is talking about. The death of Han Solo. Now when Kylo aka Ben kills his father I said, “You Son Of A Bitch!” I knew it was going to happen the way the scene was set up. But when it happened….YOU SON OF A BITCH! That was a moment that both the screenwriter and Ford have been waiting to do since Jedi, and it was done well…and by well I mean heartbreaking.

This film in my opinion is not for young children, there is a lot of death and violence in this film, and even I a 27 year-old man child got nightmares from the film.

So if your a fan of the saga you’re really going to enjoy this film, and if your now a fan you will also enjoy the film because its an epic film!

Star Trek Beyond trailer review

beyond-banner

Well, crap.

Star Trek Into Darkness was my favorite film of 2013. I saw it twice in theaters and even being a fan of the old Trek I walked out liking every bit of the film. I even liked the first film and thought they handled time travel quite well.

What made those films great were three things, JJ Abrams directing, the perfect cast, and the writing team of Kurtzman and Orci (because they were Trek fans). Sadly the new films is missing two of its key elements, and its so painfully obvious.

JJ went off to direct STAR WARS, which comes out Friday, Kurtzman just didn’t come back at all and Robert Orci back out of everything except for a producer role. He was the original director but later “exited” the film. So that’s when they got Justin Lin of the Fast and Furious franchise to come direct the 3rd film.

Lin does great if the Fast and Furious franchise, but Trek is a whole other ballpark. And from what I saw from this trailer, it doesn’t look good.

First off Simon Pegg was signed on as one of the writers on the film after the studio felt the first few scripts were too Star Trek. In Pegg’s own words, “had a script for Star Trek that wasn’t really working for them. I think the studio was worried that it might have been a little bit too Star Trek-y.”

star-trek-beyond-video-4

“I want you to make a Star Trek movie, but don’t make it anything like Star Trek at all and more like Guardians of the Galaxy.” That’s how I imagine the pitch went.

We start off by hearing music that does not even mesh with the Star Trek tone, the Beastie Boy. Once that song came on I was already out. It just does not work! Might as well thrown in ether Vin Diesel or The Rock in Star Trek. This looks like a hot mess.

The story looks stupid from the little we got, Idris Elba looks like the bad guy from Galaxy Quest. This is not a film for the fans and non fans like the others. This film is for the people who liked the Fast and Furious, and don’t get me wrong I like those movies but not in Trek.

trek-beyond3

If the hardcore fans weren’t pissed off already by the last two films, they sure as hell will be now. So next summer I guess we’ll see how Star Trek 3: Boldly Drifting turns out.

Independence Day: Resurgence trailer review

independence-day-resurgence-22

Thank the maker it didn’t get titled ID2: Forever Part 1…

Today dropped the first trailer for the sequel to the 1996 mega blockbuster Independence Day, and it was awesome!

We welcome back Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch, Vivica Fox, and Brent Spiner. Now if your asking where Will Smith is at, well he’s busy with Suicide Squad so his character dies off screen some time ago.

New to the cast we get Liam Hemsworth (not Thor the other Hemsworth), William Fichtner (not Shredder from Ninja Turtles), and Maika Monroe (not the actress who played the daughter in the first film).

The plot is actually quite good for a sci-fic sequel.

After the events of the first movie, the government has used the alien technology to enhance their arm forces and weapons. Goldblum’s character who was known to be echo friendly and anti-government is not happy with the way the government as used the alien tech.

id4r07

Bill Pullman, who obviously is still scarred from when the captured alien got in his head, says he had dreamed about the aliens returning. Since his term as President he has grown a beard and now uses a cane to walk. From what I saw his now grown daughter is dating Hemsworth’s character and his buddy is Will Smith’s son.

id4r05

X-Men: Apocalypse needs to watch this trailer and learn what a good trailer looks like. ID 2 had CGI, and is going to be in 3D. However they didn’t catered to the 3D like X-Men did. This movie is going to be corny, but it still pulled me in. X-Men is not suppose to be  corny, but they trailer makes it look that way.

Along with Batman v Superman, Rogue One, Civil War, ID 2 is on my list of films I can’t wait to see in theaters!

The Ridiculous 6 spoiler review

screenshot_2015-10-28_15.28.14

If you’ve read my review of Adam Sandler’s film Pixles, if not here a LINK to that blog. You know that I’m was not a fan of Pixles, I thought it was a great idea with a lot of potential but failed to make a good movie.

Adam Sandler is a hit or very very hard miss. Now I think everyone can say that Sandler’s earlier films Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore and The Wedding Singer were funny. Then you get films like  The Waterboy, and Little Nicky (which is a guilty pleasure for me, but that does not mean its good).

That all being said I was still interested in seeing his new Netflix movie The Ridiculous 6. I’ll be honest, it was that bad. Its offensive as hell, if your Native American or Mexican this film will rub you the wrong way.

The story is not terrible, Sandler plays a white man who was raised by Native Americans after his mother was murdered. Now here’s where our first offensive stuff comes up. Some of the Natives have um…odd names. Like Smoking Fox, Beaver Breath and Screaming Eagle. Sandler’s character is like the Yohan of the west, they way he fights and jumps around reminded me of that character (another film I though was decent).

The plot revolves around Sandler’s character meeting his dad, played by Nick Nolte, who tells him that he’s hid money in the hill country. He’s then kidnapped by his former gang who want their cut of the money. Sandler, unable to find where his father hid the money decides to steal from the bad to raise the money to free his dad.

We then meet our next character Ramon, played by Rob Schneider the best fake ethnic actor since Fisher Stevens. Again here’s another place where people will probably get offended. Much like the previous foreign characters that Schneider has played, this one is a stereotype. Whether it be the big Sombero and Poncho, to the reference Donkey Shows and the very typical fake Mexican accent. We also get to meet his friend Donkey, who…now I want you to realized the following joke was written by someone. OK, the donkey at random times just has explosive diarrhea. Again, someone wrote that joke into the film…and used it more then once.

As they find out that they’re brothers, Schneider convinces Sandler to tag long while he robs the local bank. It during the robbery that they meet their younger brother Lil’ Pete, played by Taylor Lautner. This is the worst character in the whole film. He’s annoying from beginning to end.

After they rob the bank they head to one of their fathers old hideouts, and what do ya know they meet another brother played by Hurley from Lost. Now where Lautner was the worst character in the film, Jorge Garcia’s Gabby Hayes type character Herm is the best character in the film. Every scene he’s in made me laugh, and he never an audible word!

So Hurley joins his brothers to help save their father, they make their way to a gold mining town lead by Mr. White himself. The three brothers plan to steal a giant piece of gold at the local saloon. During the plan they bump into their last two brothers played by Luke Wilson and Terry Crews. They way Luke Wilson plays his character is like he knows he’s in a Sandler film so why try hard to act. Crews on the other hand is use to being in a Sandler film so he just goes right along and as fun with his character.

So the brothers get the money to save their dad. Their also a sub plot with Will Forte and Steve Zahn as outlaws hunting down Sandler for revenge for beating them up in the beginning of the film.

As the film comes to a close with the brothers giving the money to his fathers gang, Sandler killing the man who murdered his mother, and thr big reveal that Nolte’s character was in on the kidnapping. Which was not a bad twist. I guess Nolte’s plan was to meet his son, tell him about some money that was barred in the hills (which it never says if that was a lie, but I guessed it was). So if that was a lie to get his son to go and rob people to get the money to save him, what would he had done if Sandler just was like, “Oh well, back to my Native Family.” The whole plan is not thought out well.

Now I know In started off saying that the film was OK and that it was not terrible. I still think that, yes they’re elements that are cliche Sandler tropes, but its a free movie on Netflix. At least I didn’t pay for it!

The thousands of cameos alone make this film fun to watch, and each cameo actor does a funny job with their short scenes.

Adam-Sandler-Ridiculous-Six-Cast-in-New-Mexico-OHI

So if you have Netflix and have binged watched all your shows, watch The Ridicules 6, its not as bad as Grown Ups 2 and Blended. I’d say its right up there with Seth McFarland’s A Million Ways to Die in the West.

Now if you want to see a really funny western spoof, go watch Mel Brooks’ Blazing Saddles! Now that’s a funny farce western!

X-Men: Apocalypse Trailer Review

x-men-apocalypse-logo-143867

Out of all the super hero movies out there, the X-Men franchise is my favorite. I grew up watching the cartoon series and the SEGA games, and was a huge fan of the first two films when they came out. X2 is still my favorite movie out of the series.

So being a fan of cartoon series I was introduced to a lot of villains in that universe. My favorite one being Apocalypse! I even had an action figure of him in my room…still in the box. That being said, I’ve been wanting to see him in a film since X-Men: The Last Stand. Which when you take out the whole Magneto his Hitler, and “the Juggernaut Bitch”, could have been an interesting story about the Phoenix.

Also, despite X2 each other X-Men movie saw Magneto as the films core bad guy. With Humans bad guys included trying to kill, or round up mutants. Similar with how the Superman Franchise always had Lex Luthor as the core bad guys in the films, while ignoring villains like Brainiac.

So last year with the release of Days of Future Past we got an after credit scene that showed the first mutant himself, Ivan Ooze! I..I mean…Apocalypse!

x-men_L30

Now in that scene we see the first mutant standing above an Egyptian city, while slaves are building pyramids. Now we know that this has to be some time long ago because Apocalypse is quite young in this scene, and when we get to the next film in the 80’s he looks a lot older. Plus we get a glimpse at the four horsemen. Then BLACK!

Yesterday news went around that the first full trailer was dropping on Friday, and seeing that it’s the day I watched it online.

He’s what we know so far from just the trailer.

Professor X has reopened the school for the gifted, and by this point has recruited Jean Gray and possibly Scott Summers. Who’s brother Alex aka Havok is scene with Professor X when they discover that Apocalypse may be real. Now will they be brothers in the film? Who knows, they may just over look that part and never mention how their last names are the same.

Another thing we see is that from the last time we saw Apocalypse he lost his horsemen. How? Maybe they got older and died, or died in a battle, or who cares this is an X-Men movies and continuity does not exist in this franchise!

We find out that the new four horsemen are: Magneto, Storm, Psylocke and Angel. Also, Moria is great at giving exposition through dialogue! Tells us everything we need to know going into this.

X-MenApocalypsePsylocke01

We also get to see quicksilver again, does he know who is daddy is? Beast is back, will they change the make-up again? Nightcrawler and Jubliee because…yeah.

Then probably the weird story line in the new trilogy is how Mystique is a good guy now…I mean a good guy again. Her story arc is so Topsy-Turvy, and will they explain what happened between the ending of the last film, where she disguised herself as Stryker and saved Wolverine (dumb, why not have the real Stryker do that?), to where it looks like she’s been gone for a while.

Then we get some REALLY BAD CGI effects, I mean SyFy movie channel production CGI. That or it looks like the effects were catered for 3D, like when a 3D movie has someone throws an object at the screen so when you go watch it it’s in 3D!!! lame.

Then to end it, they give some fan service by showing a quick scene of bald Professor X. OK then…

xmen1

To sum up this trailer I’ll say this, the 3rd film in a series is always the one to worry about. Return of the Jedi, Return of the King, Spiderman 3, Iron Man 3, and yes X-Men 3. Did I liked this trailer, eh it was OK. Honestly I think they could have done better. I’ll still go see it cause I’m a fan, but my hopes will be at a median level.

Unlike Star Wars: The Force Awakens which comes out next week, my hopes are high for that film! So if it sucks I have no one to blame but myself!

Ant-Man Movie Review

Ant-Man_Animated_Teaser_Poster.gif

Ant-Man starring Paul Rudd was the MARVEL movie everyone was worried about. Could the studio that made the unknown comic Guardians of the Galaxy  into one of the best MARVEL movies do the same with Ant-Man?

The answer is yes, Ant-Man is right there with the 1st Thor movie and Winter Solder. Its funny and full of action. What’s best about this movie is that it makes sense why the Avengers are not helping out to stop the villain.

Hank Pym must stop his former protege from creating a the shrinking process and put it in the hands of Hydra. When Scott Lang says that they should call the Avengers, Pym said that he tried to keep Stark’s father way from his invention, so he won’t just hand it over to his son. Makes sense, plus Pym wants to keep this on the down low.

We do get to see one of the new Avengers Falcon,  who Scott calls “The Pelican”. Falcon and Ant-Man get into a fight, Scott cracking jokes the majority of the fight.

The shrinking scenes with Ant-Man are like watching a 360 degrees camera.

Everyone in the film do a terrific job, Michael Pena is hilarious as Pym’s former prison buddy.

Michael Douglas is great as Hank Pym. What surprises me the most is how CGI has advanced. When we see young Michael Douglas in the 80’s it’s like the went back in time to get Gordon Gecko. If only TRON: LEGACY has the same CGI for young Jeff Bridges.

Corey Stoll from House of Cards plays such a diabolical bad guy. Bent on revenge against Pym. Although its sort of a sad story cause its the process of his shrinking formula that is making him crazy. Even though Stoll does not become The Yellow Jacket till the very end of the film, his fight scene with Pym is awesome!

Evangeline Lilly and Paul Rudd have a good chemistry on screen. Although her character does little in the film, all she does is train Scott to fight using his Ant-Man strength. I hope in the Sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp that her character is more fleshed out.

Co-written by Rudd and Adam McKay, and you can tell. The comedic timing of the film is spot on, and it works cause you have a cast that knows both comedy and drama.

Towards the end we get a quick line that sounds a lot like Spider-Man. Falcon is looking for Scott, to have him join the new Avengers.

And like every MARVEL movie we get an after-the-credit-scene  of Captain America: Civil War. Falcon has found Bucky and tell Steve that Tony can’t know, but that he knows a guy that could help.

CUT TO BLACK

ANT-MAN WILL RETURN

So that’s my review on MARVEL’s Ant-Man. It was nothing like what I thought it would be, I really every aspect of this film. There’s wasn’t ever a point where the film just lost me. If I had to rank my top favorite MCU movies here’s what they would be:

  1. Captain America: Winter Solder
  2. THOR
  3. ANT-MAN
  4. Guardians of the Galaxy
  5. Actually, I don’t have a #5 yet, maybe Civil War will make the list?

Batman v Superman Trailer Review

Batman-vs.-Superman-Dawn-Of-Justice

The new trailer for Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman film dropped yesterday. We got some incite to the film’s plot, and a few spoilers.

When the trailer opens up we see a press event taking place set up my LexCorp. Clark is there covering the event for the Daily Planet. Then Gotham’s must famous playboy millionaire Bruce Wayne shows up. We get a good look at Ben Affleck’s  Bruce. He’s older, and from the conversation with Clark about the diffrences between Superman and Batman, it looks as if Bruce knows that Clark is The Man of Steel.

We also get a reference to the Joker, you can tell when Affleck says, “Maybe its the Gotham City in me…” you can tell he’s been wanting to say that since childhood!

We then get to see Lex introduce the two hero’s in a very corny fashion. It’s like Gene Hackman’s Lex Luthor but as a young man. Although the whole hand shaking line from Lex saying how firm Clark’s was is stupid.

It’s shown that Bruce and Lex have meet in the past, most likely is business passing.

We then get another look into the Batman dream sequence with Superman, cause that’s what it is.

What I thought was interesting is that we get are first bat swear in a movie, “That Son of a Bitch.” I’m sure he must have said “damn” at some point. But throwing at an SOB, this is a more angry, bitter, Batman we are getting.

Lex then says the title of the movie again as he has Lois captured. Which short of shows that he probably knows that Clark is Superman.

Then we get the whole movie RUINED when the studio and the editor of the trailer spoil the surprise plot. We see that Lex is using Zod’s body for some experiments, now we have seen these same things in the previous trailer. What we get to see now is the reveal of DOOMSDAY! Yep, the main villain of the movie and he’s most likely going to be on screen for maybe 20mins. Why show everyone this and not wait to surprise people at the theaters?

Also we get a funny joke between Batman and Superman about Wonder Woman. “She with you?” “I thought she was with you?” ADD LAUGH HERE!

All in all, I liked the trailer. It has its fair share of funny, serious, action, and comic book homage scenes. Will this by past Nolan’s Batman Series in the box office? We shall see, all I know for sure is that nothing is going to beat Star Wars until maybe Captain America: Civil War.

Gods of Egypt, Why do movies like this get green-lit?

screen_shot_2014-06-03_at_3.08.27_pm

I just watched the trailer for what I predict will be the first financial bomb of 2016, GODS OF EGYPT.

This movie stars Game of Thrones actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as the hero of the film Horus, He also started in last years The Other Woman, the really disappointing feature film version of the scary short film Mama, and had a bit part in the boring Tom Cruise space movie Oblivion. None of these movies are pieces of great cinema by any count.

Our bad guy is played by the start of the upcoming 80’s action comedy London Has Fallen Down, Fallen Down, Fallen Down, My Fair Lady, Gerard Butler as Set. Ugh, I can not stand Gerard Butler. The only movie I liked with him in it was The Ugly Truth, don’t judge me monkey…

What makes me sad as I read this cast is that somehow they were able to rope in Geoffrey Rush, from Pirates of the Caribbean and Mystery Men (that was the first movie I saw him in), and Black Panther himself Chadwick Boseman.

These two are really good actors, how did they agree to do this film? Rush I can kind of get, I mean like Morgan Freeman said once about why do A Dolphin Tale 2…”Money.” Boseman though, he just got signed on to Disney’s Marvel Universe for both Civil War and a stand alone Black Panther film. He does not need to do this movie, unless they offered them both a butt-load of cash.

With Nikolaj and Butler I can see them doing movies like this. Look at what Butler is coming out next year, a stupid sequel to a stupid movie.

What makes me even more surprise is that a production company would produce this movie and give the movie a 140 million dollar budget. The last Hunger Games movie was only made with 125 million.

Now you can argue, “well look at the trailer, this is a heavy CGI movie. I bet it was all shot on greenscreen and that’s why its so expensive to make!” Take as Exhibit A Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, it was made for 113 million and it was a heavy CGI film. Course with the last Pirates film the budget was 378.5 million and racked in a total of 1.046 billion in the box office. But Gods of Egypt is not piggy backing on a franchise like Pirates is doing. This film I highly predict will come no where close to a billion in the box office. I’ll be surprise if they even break their budget.

Lionsgate is distributing the film, this is the same company of The Hunger Games, Twilight Saga, and The Expendables. So even when this film tanks they will be OK with Hunger Games money. Not to mention they got the distributing rights to the new Mighty Morphing Power Rangers film.

So now we come back to the question at hand, why do films like this get made? What I think is that a film like this will make bank overseas and with that they are able to make their budget back and more. Cause no one here in the US is going to see this movie. I would love to find someone out there who watch the trailer and said, “OMG! What an epic trailer! I MUST see this film!”

They only positive thing I take from this is, if a piece of movie garbage like this can get made I can make a movie, and find people back it like no sweat!

“London Has Fallen”, best 80’s Action movie Comedy spoof of 2015!

I just watched the trailer for the sequel to 2013 Olympus Has Fallen….London Has Fallen. I laughed so hard watching this trailer, it has every cheesy moment from bad 80’s and 90’s action films that started JCVD.

Lets start with the stupid plot that a man, who is on the 10 list of the badest badies ever, has killed several world leaders. They didn;t say why, but if I had to guess I would say…REVENGE!!!

Also after all the other leaders are killed, the bad guy calls America’s Leaders to tell them that if he does not give them The President he will blow up major cities. So let me get this, this guy doesn’t want missile or missile codes, or even money. He wants the President, and if they give him up cities and lives will not be harmed. GIVE HIM THE PRESIDENT! If he dies then Morgan Freedman becomes President, cough watch the trailer and you see he does. Morgan Freeman gives a TAKEN speech at the end of the trailer that is obviously the endning of the film, and since he is standing behind the Presidential seal, means he is the new President.

Also the whole line the President says about to kill him so he does not get captured, yeah that didn’t happen! We see him on a big screen getting torched. We also get three of the cheesy-est cheesy scenes you can put in an action film. When the bad guys tell the John McClane spoof that he is going to kill him, the 3rd rate McClane shoots back, “Should have brought more men then!” CUT TO THE INTO TO CSI: MIAMI.

Then we get Angela Bassett’s one lonely tear down her face…REALLY! Last, but the best part…right as the trailer ends we get a shot of Morgan Freeman saying, “Oh My God!” BOOM TITLE! CUE ME LAUGHING OUT LOUD!

I will not be seeing this movie….that’s all I have to say about that.
